5 Things to Consider For Your 2017 Natural Hair Goals

                                                 Happy New Year!

It is another new year, another season for your life. I am grateful to be alive, I hope you are, too?

Do you make new year’s resolutions? I stopped doing those because they didn’t last beyond January 3rd of the year. LOL

So, do you have any goals for your hair for 2017? If yes, what are they? If no, why not?

Below are some things that you will need to keep in mind while you are thinking of the progress that you expect for your hair in this new year.

Where are you on the scale? If you currently have permed hair, and you know that you will no longer be doing any touch-up, but you are not even sure if you want to fully embrace your natural hair, then I will suggest that you keep on doing what you are doing.

If on the other hand, you are ready to do the big chop, then go ahead and pull the trigger.

If you have a particular length in mind that you want to achieve by the end of 2017, then you will need to know what that is. Example: 4 – 6 more inches. Keep in mind that Black hair grow up to half an inch per month.

What activities will you be doing for your hair in 2017?

  • Wash day
  • Treatments: deep conditioning and protein
  • Moisturizing products: cream and oil
  • Hairstyles

What hairstyles will you be wearing? If you have found your signature hair style, that would even help you simplify things. If your goal is to retain as much length as possible, then you will want to consider doing more protective styles and low-manipulations styles.

                           Heat Usage

Constant use of heat will deter you from reaching your goal of healthy hair. If at all you need to use it, you can reduce the use from every month to every other month. Consider air drying your hair in big twists before you style.

The below video highlights 3 of these 5 points.
